A note from the artist: “All shells are hand-collected along various beaches from the Chesapeake Bay down to the low country of South Carolina. My goal is to highlight the natural beauty of oyster shells in their weathered and imperfect condition. All shells have been cleaned and sealed with either a clear or gold protective coating to preserve their beauty for years to come. I have taken oyster shells that are weathered and imperfect and created something beautiful. Just like God takes you and me who are all weathered by sin and the storms of life and makes us new and beautiful by His Grace through Jesus Christ. The weathered oyster represents the hope we have through faith in Jesus Christ. I like to think of them as “beautifully imperfect” yet fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139).”
